Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, August 16 (Reporter Zhou Ke) Wu Bing Shu, executive vice president of the China Die & Mould Industry Association, said in Chang'an Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province on the 16th that China has 25,000 die and mold manufacturing enterprises, with more than one million employees and sales exceeding 170 billion yuan.

Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, August 16 (Reporter Zhou Ke) Wu Bingshu, executive vice president of the China Die and Mould Industry Association, said in Chang'an Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province on the 16th that China's die and mould manufacturing enterprises have reached 25,000, with over one million employees and sales exceeding 170 billion yuan.
At the launch ceremony of the 2016 First "Chang'an Cup" China Die and Mould Works and Manufacturing Skills Competition held in Chang'an Town, Dongguan City, Wu Bingshu pointed out that China's die and mould manufacturing capacity has increased from tens of billions of yuan at the beginning of reform and opening up to 210 billion yuan in 2015, and the number of employees has increased from tens of thousands to millions. Among them, sales exceeded 170 billion yuan, not only basically meeting the requirements of China's manufacturing industry for the quantity, variety, and quality of dies and moulds, but also possessing the ability to export in large quantities almost all varieties of dies and moulds.
"In 1999, China's die and mould exports exceeded US$1 billion, and then maintained an average annual growth of over 35% for 10 consecutive years, reaching US$2.2 billion in 2010, exceeding imports (US$2.1 billion) for the first time." Wu Bingshu introduced, "During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's die and mould exports continued to maintain a high growth trend, and in 2015, China's die and mould exports reached US$5.08 billion."
According to the introduction, dies and moulds are important basic process equipment in industrial production, known as the "mother of industry", and are an important indicator of a country's manufacturing level. At present, Chang'an Town's hardware die and mould industry has formed a cluster scale, with more than 1,100 production enterprises in the town, including nearly 300 automobile hardware die and mould manufacturing enterprises, with an annual turnover exceeding 15 billion yuan.
